Each character gets a Unicode combining mark (like U+0336) appended directly to it. These zero-width overlay characters are part of standard Unicode text, so they display correctly in any app that renders Unicode — including Twitter, Discord, Instagram, and WhatsApp.
The strikethrough (U+0336) draws a horizontal line through the middle of each character, while the slash style (U+0338) uses a diagonal solidus overlay. The 'Crossed' option layers both for an X-through effect.
Yes. The Copy button writes the full Unicode string — including the invisible combining marks — to your clipboard. When you paste it, the strikethrough renders just as shown in the preview.
The tool iterates over full Unicode code points (using spread syntax), so it handles accented Latin, Cyrillic, Arabic, CJK, and most emoji. Results may vary by platform because combining marks on emoji are not universally supported.
