About

The Strikethrough Text Generator uses Unicode combining overlay characters to draw a line, slash, or cross through every letter of your text — no special font needed. Paste the result directly into Twitter, Discord, Instagram bios, WhatsApp, Reddit, or anywhere that accepts plain text. Choose from seven styles including classic strikethrough, diagonal slash, double strike, and more.

FAQ
Why does strikethrough text work on social media without special formatting?+

Each character gets a Unicode combining mark (like U+0336) appended directly to it. These zero-width overlay characters are part of standard Unicode text, so they display correctly in any app that renders Unicode — including Twitter, Discord, Instagram, and WhatsApp.

What is the difference between the strikethrough and slash styles?+

The strikethrough (U+0336) draws a horizontal line through the middle of each character, while the slash style (U+0338) uses a diagonal solidus overlay. The 'Crossed' option layers both for an X-through effect.

Will the crossed-out text copy correctly to my clipboard?+

Yes. The Copy button writes the full Unicode string — including the invisible combining marks — to your clipboard. When you paste it, the strikethrough renders just as shown in the preview.

Does this work with emoji and non-Latin characters?+

The tool iterates over full Unicode code points (using spread syntax), so it handles accented Latin, Cyrillic, Arabic, CJK, and most emoji. Results may vary by platform because combining marks on emoji are not universally supported.
