Tip: Enter time as MM:SS (e.g. 50:00 for 50 minutes) or HH:MM:SS for runs over an hour. Pace is shown in both km and mile formats automatically.
Our free running pace calculator helps you plan smarter training and race days. Enter your distance and finish time to instantly see your pace per kilometre and per mile, or flip the mode and enter your target pace plus distance to predict your finish time. Works for every distance from a 1 km tempo run to a full marathon, in both metric and imperial units.
Divide your total finish time (in seconds) by the distance in kilometres (or miles). For example, finishing 10 km in 50 minutes gives 300 seconds per km, which equals a pace of 5:00 /km.
Most beginners run between 7:00 and 9:00 per km (about 11–14 min/mile). Anything under 6:00 /km is considered a solid recreational pace, while competitive club runners typically aim for sub-5:00 /km.
Multiply your per-km pace (in seconds) by 1.60934. So a 5:00 /km pace becomes roughly 8:03 /mile. The calculator shows both automatically.
Enter your goal pace (e.g. 5:30 /km) and select the Marathon preset (42.195 km). The calculator will instantly show your predicted finish time — in this case around 3 hours 51 minutes.
