How it works: Age is calculated using calendar arithmetic — years and months are exact calendar units, and the remaining days are the leftover after subtracting full months. Total days use the precise millisecond difference between dates.

FAQ
How is the age calculated?+

Age is computed using calendar arithmetic. Full years are counted first, then full calendar months, and the remaining days are whatever is left over. This matches how age is counted in everyday life — for example, someone born on March 31 turns one month older on April 30, not April 31.

Why does my total-days count differ from years × 365?+

Because calendar years are not all 365 days — leap years have 366. The total days figure uses the precise millisecond difference between your birthdate and the reference date, so it accounts for every leap year in between.

Can I calculate age as of a date other than today?+

Yes. The "Age As Of" field defaults to today but you can change it to any future or past date. This is useful for legal documents, historical research, or finding out how old someone was on a specific day.

Does the calculator handle leap-year birthdays (Feb 29)?+

Yes. If you were born on February 29, the calculator uses February 29 as your birthday in leap years and March 1 in non-leap years when computing your next birthday, matching the most common legal convention.
